That's g...Nope, hadn't posted that, thanks! That's gotta be hydrogen sulfide. The two 'sewer gases' are hydrogen sulfide and methane, but they mention corrosion of the sewer lids. Methane isn't corrosive, hydrogen sulfide is, so that's hydrogen sulfide and yes indeed, it's very unhealthy for the folks who are smelling it, although the fact that they CAN smell it and the fact that it smells bad (not flowery or sickly sweet-ish) means the concentration isn't high. Still, the long-term effects on their health can only be bad and they may start having fire problems too, if they aren't already.

And don't worry too much about posting links or checking to see if I've already mentioned something or not - I'm not an anal-retentive douchebag, and even if I have posted something, it does no harm whatsoever to have links to pertinent events posted in more than one place. In fact, it's probably good!

Are you an Aussie? If so, it's good to see some Aussies paying attention - we all share this problem!Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-79679674201161298492014-07-31T01:38:42.759-05:002014-07-31T01:38:42.759-05:00(Apologies if you've posted this and I've ...(Apologies if you've posted this and I've missed): http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-31/leaking-sewer-stench-a-headache-for-homeowners/5636752

Hmm, no mention of the gas in question here...'Ms Davies said the Water Corporation acknowledged the sewer had an "unusually high concentration of odorous gases" which when mixed with water, could lead to the corrosion of the lids that sealed the sewer, allowing gases to escape.'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-57230109145236992302014-07-30T14:06:10.165-05:002014-07-30T14:06:10.165-05:00But the stock market is doing great! We got yer vehicle fires, barn fires, exploding manhole covers from underground sources, and now - payple drahvin inna the raver!

What a mess. We got pretty much a proxy "civil war" in Ukraine, we got the middle East tinderbox blowin' up, China and Japan are pissed at each other, N. Korea is always ready for mischief, Africa's got problems with disease - and they're spreadin' it all over the world via infected airline passengers (in fact, all kinds of diseases are popping up all over the place), the world economy is on the brink of seizing up, the climate's goin' haywire, we got deadly gases comin' from the Earth (and our civilization is only contributing more to it each year), and neither Fukushima nor the Gulf of Mexico have been "contained."

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
