All these 'first times' aren't good! That's the planet changing big-time right in front of us, and not in ways helpful for human survival. We're all on borrowed time now. Like Ray Charles once said, live each day like it's your last because one of these days it will be. However true that was when Ray was alive, it's way more true now.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-60547369606285232102015-06-25T14:25:50.246-05:002015-06-25T14:25:50.246-05:00Yeah, it could always have been worse, and i'm...Yeah, it could always have been worse, and i'm happy it didn't kill me this time; one of these days though, Jonny, i think that's how it ends - ya get cut off, run out of supplies, or the storm kills you or causes massive destruction of the entire community, disease starts spreading, people go crazy, nobody comes to your aid (because they can't) . . .and it just spirals down to oblivion eventually.

Here's a few stories:

Infant attacked by family dog in San Francisco
http://www.sott.net/article/298274-Infant-attacked-by-family-dog-in-San-Francisco

The [8 mo. old] baby was bitten on the head of face, but the injures aren't considered life-threatening. Whenever bad stuff happens to me, I remember this couple I saw on TV after the big quake in Haiti in 2010. The couple had no home because the quake had destroyed it and bad rainstorms were hitting them and they were sitting on a bench with the man holding a board over their heads - that was their shelter, a BOARD, that's it!Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-91211849414164780042015-06-25T09:26:26.480-05:002015-06-25T09:26:26.480-05:00Not 10 minutes after my last post the 75 mph wind ...Not 10 minutes after my last post the 75 mph wind roared through, ripping large branches off of trees, toppling some (like my apple tree), power went out and that's where it stands at my house. The interesting thing about my house is that when the power goes out there's no water (electric well pump), so i'm a little gamey and unshaven, but i showed up for final exams today (first summer session ends and the second starts next week, goes to mid August). This was declared the fifth worst storm to hit SE PA according to the news. NJ had a few towns hit worse than us, but the damage and loss of power is worse in PA because of the wide area effected.

i'm hopeful that electricity will be restored today, since i saw about 50 of those electric company bucket trucks marshaling their forces about 20 minutes down the road from home. i lost a refrigerator worth of food and have been cleaning up the yard of debris and branches for the past days. Aside from reading, there's nothing else to do.

i missed your site, and i'm glad i'm still around to view it.

Tom
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
