Fro...You got me on what summer has in store for us! From 2009 to 2012 the date that I could plant plants outdoors in the spring crept progressively earlier, from May 1 (which is normal for this area) in 2009 to March 26 in 2012. And then after 2012 it has become kinda random. Those Arctic winds were howling last night, that's for sure. Tomorrow will be colder as the coldest air in the Northern Hemisphere pays a visit to Tom. Snow expected tonight, tomorrow and Saturday (but it could change rapidly to something else - like rain - as some moisture-laden Gulf of Mexico air makes its way to PA).

Very interesting stuff in this report, Jonny, and i like your detailed explanations with links to research articles.

Yeah - with 8 FEET of snow on a roof, it's bound to give way - that shit's HEAVY!
i saw pictures of people with snow-blowers on their roofs trying to clear it off! On the news this morning, the airport in Boston has to find new places to put the runway snow so that they comply with the height limit set by the FAA, and they were moving it with HUGE Caterpillar bulldozers. If this is the new normal, we're gonna have real problems going forward. i wonder what summer has in store for us?

http://www.sott.net/article/292811-Striped-sparrow-resident-in-Mexico-turns-up-700-miles-from-home-for-the-first-time-in-the-US

Striped sparrow resident in Mexico turns up 700 miles from home for the first time in the US

http://www.sott.net/article/292808-Arctic-chill-to-bring-coldest-US-temperatures-since-late-1800s-in-East-record-cold-in-Midwest-South

Arctic chill to bring coldest U.S. temperatures since late-1800s in East; record cold in Midwest, South

[in related news, some guy in PA can't find his nuts]

http://www.sott.net/article/292807-4750-square-miles-of-Great-Lakes-freezes-overnight-total-ice-cover-82

4,750 square miles of Great Lakes freezes overnight; total ice cover 82%

Tom

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
